Hola! This is Raquita, and you've found my blog. I am a Photographer and I love my job, I get to watch people be in love everyday and they trust me to capture that love and I am grateful for the chance. I write poetry because because the love of my life deserve more than what we say everyday, and I want to tell them.
I beleive in romance and happy endings, and fairy tales, more so now that I have two daughters than I think I ever have. This all being said it should be no surprise that I am a little goofy, and a lot cheesy. I love chick flicks, poker, Greys Anatomy and Hoops and Yo Yo. I always root for the underdog, (GO Celtics!) I prefer sushi for dinner and waffles for breakfast. I am the resident WOBL-in-training around these parts. (W)ise (O)ld (B)lack (L)ady and I'm pretty much into flat out having a good time.
This blog has gone though a lot of changes now most notably merging my personal life with my business one. So you will find as much about what I think about the latest movies as well as my latest assignments. You will get to know my kids and my husband pretty well if you read often, and i love a good debate so please feel free to comment all the time. Which is differnt cause I’m not a big Ashanti fan, that is all.
I was talking about being incognegro last week so IC ould get caught up - turns out it was so I could be knocked on my arse with a sinus infection. I missed work at my day job all week and didn’t do a single thing for Pinxit either, which means I am going to be doubly busy this week, I have two newborns to finish editing and get posted, four boudoirs (thanks family for showin up for a girl) a baby shower and a maternity to edit as well. In additon it is coming to my attention that it may simply be who of me to hire out finishing my website, (you know anybody?!?!) Bri’s birthdy is in two weeks, and the St. Louis InterPlay is coming up. In addition to all that… drum roll…
Cammy had her first day of school this morning. She was so cute. Full post on that coming up real real soon. My baby is going to big girl school.

I’m sorry I’ve been a little slow with the posting and the pictures and all - my hits have taken a nose dive and I know thats all my fault. I’m sorry fine internets. You know I loves you right? Its totally not you, its my grand dreams of photography domination and budding photography business. The thing is internets, You know how you want to do something and you can see it in your mind as plain as the boobs on your chest nose on your face? My goal is to find the best way to make other people see what I want to do. And Thats taking a little more time than I originally thought. But when I get this where I want it to be I hope you will all be as pleased as I am.

Since having children of my own, my vision of what motherhood is, should be and was when I was a child has changed greatly.
I remember thinking in my childhood, “why didn’t my mom do XYZ??” But As I find my self doing all the things my mom did with me when I was a kid, it occurs to me - we did a CRAP LOAD of stuff, all the time. Whatever my mom was doing, we were learning how to do it with her. When she decided she was going to learn cake decorating and be a baker, we learned too. I can still to this day write my own birthday greetings on a cake if the bakery person is off when I go pick up my last minute cake. I can also make roses out of icing. Pipe on boarders, make a killer swirl on cupcakes, do icing teddy bears, I learned all manner of cakery. When my mom decided to do anything, she took us along for the ride. In addition we made Christmas ornaments every year for ages. We encouraged to try anything we thought we might enjoy. My childhood was not all roses but it was well and far on the positive side of the tracks. And as I hear my daughter say “I think I need my Gigi,” I know my daughter will have the same fond memories of my mom and my grandmother that I do, and I count us both lucky.
So in all of the things that are swirling around me I wanted to take a second to tell my mom thank you. I appreciate you, and all you do.
Okay I just watched the last few episodes of So You Think You Can Dance.. Can I just say a world where Will was not the winner of this show, is not one I am comfortable raising children in. He won it for me when he did the peice choreographed by Desmond Richardson and Dwight Rhoden danced with Katee.
He should marry my daughters - both of them.
My number 2 did win. Joshua. Although I don’t think I want him to marry my girls, something about that guy, maybe its the ponytail. I don’t think i would want him dating my girls. He does have a GREAT BUTT. Alas. I get vibes and I listen to vibes, and he is not a better dancer than Will. But I firmly beleive that his exit was political, Debbie Allen was a judge on several occasions, Nigel worked with Mrs Allen previously, enough that he performed with her kids during the finale. Twitch was kept to apease those who want to encourage the street dancers to keep trying out, he was amazing - truth- but I haven’t met one person who watches this show who thinks Twitch should have stayed and Wil should have went home.
Just sayin is all.
In other TV news - I cannot WAIT until the new TV show The Hole airs. I got a thing for people walking into walls and glass doors and the like. Seriously, any movie or commercial where it happens instantly becomes a favorite film. INSTANTLY. Those windex commercials with the crows.. LOVE THEM. So a whole half an hour of people tryin not to get run over by a wall?!?! That is so right up my alley.
I watched Becoming Jane with my bestest friend (Hi Spoken!!!) and it was GREAT. LOVED it. Such a girl movie, and now I am gonna have to find the time to read her books, anybody got a few I can borrow?
P.s My internal Greys count down clock is about to start.. kick off is sometime in September.
Ah Dear internets.
It has been a day week. I’ve been reading and working and taking baby steps, even though I want to break into a full run. I have so much going on, but I feel so blessed to be able to maximize all of the opportunities that have been sent my way. I am so thankful for every opportuinity, I am learning so much everyday. I can’t tell you how much, its really immeasurable. This is just a drive by since I posted so pics to my flickr page I thought I would link to a few more of Cam here over the course of the week so you guys don’t forget about me…
so lets do a tuesday special… I’ve been thinking.. I know, don’t get all excited. Anywho, I been thinking since its a bit late in the wedding season and last minute weddings are few and far between, I am excited to be more focused on the portraiture side of my business and with back to school and everything right now, i know my kid has a closet of fresh cute outfits that have yet to be terrorized by classrooms full of finger paint, and craft supplies, and playgrounds and tennis aren’t all scuffy yet, so why not do a weekend full of mini sessions with the kids?
So this is the plan, September 6th and 7th, (weather permitting) I’ll be booking one hour sessions for up to three kids at a discounted rate. I’ll be shooting at Lafayette Park and square, and will be booking from 11 am to 7 pm. I’v got TONS of things in the hopper, I’m writing wedding proposals, and working on finding a videographer for a new idea, I have to finish the design for my uniform shirts, Prep for this weekends Boudoir sessions, I also have an additional materinty and two newborns, and a three month old baby to shoot in the near future. Not to mention seminars to attend, a few networking things to attend, and I was trying to find away to donate my time in a way that is beneficial to some cause and allows me to enjoy the process - still working on that. I’ve got the idea I just need to find the right group, find the right fit. I am also working on catching up with the bloggers guild, (sorry I am so spaz guys) finishing my marketing information, finish updating the site as well, well you get the idea.
Funny thing is as much as I have on my plate, (don’t even get me started on Camm starting school in two weeks,) everything is falling right in place the only thing that has truly slipped has been the blog. I am truly sorry for my absence. I am working on getting caught up enough tha I can tell you all the cute stories that are still happening to me every day but today is not the day, this whole week is looking pretty skeet on time. Maybe I’ll get caught up while I am on my way to Chicago.
A girl can hope.

It has been a busy time in the world of Henderson dear Internets.
Cammy and I went to Grants Farm with her classmates. My little ball of wonder fed an elephant! My kid is just so awesome. Some days I am just in awe of the people they are. Especially Cammy. She is just so full of curiousity, and is so happy. Just a well of good tidings. She is so full of confidence and is not afraid to say what she thinks and how she feels. I know her life is a work in progress but somedays I am proud of hte job our support system has done wth her as a person, and who we have all helped her become.
She went to an great birthday party last week it was just four girls and the birthday girl, and it was held so that at the end of the day so there was enough time for bath and a story then it was bed time - GENIUS! I tell you!
Bri has beena little sick lately - just a tad under the weather. The occasional fever, mostly just sluggish and not able to keep many solids down (fun times!) but all in all she has bounced back well. She’s taken to the outside and wants to spend allof her time outside - which is a mixed blessing as my kids both love being outdoor but htey are both like candy for mosquitos. So we are trying to work out a less chemically HARSH was to fight that battle.
Jerry and I went to dinner with our friends again tyesterday. Its downtown restaraunt week which we like to use to try new places, I think we found a serious contender for best place to take a group of people who you love and don’t mind sharing a fork with.

It was so good it gets its own paragraph break. We tried almost everything on the menu. Thing that left a lasting impression, the Sea Bass, the Kabob, the lacquered Chicken (we had to order anything that made us think you were ordering food from HomeDepot.) It was Mojito special night and we ordered the Watermelon Mojito (cause how could we not?) and the blueberry Mojitos were AWESOME. The thing I like most about our life right now is that Jerry and I have a blended family that is truly blended. My friends and family adore his and vice versa. I love that we don’t go out with his friends on Tuesday and my friends on Thursday. That we can call them all and they are excited to get together. We had very interesting table converstaion. We watched the olympics on a 45 in flat screen near our table we made pleanty of comments about the clear violation by china if they think anybody is buying that someof those girls are 16. And while I don’t want to turn tape recorder some of the classic lines of the night were…
It was the kind of night that you think the stars have to be aligned to have happen but we have these kinds of good times everytime wehang out with our friends, so I can only count myself as extrememly blessed to have them in my life.
In photography news the “Its Intimate” portion of my work, is truly coming along. We will hopefully formally launch in the next few weeks. I am about to announce holiday session specials for cards and I am looking for Senior ambassadors, so if you know any High School Juniors who are interested in getting a great deal on their senior session please feel free to forward my information to them.
Funny thing is I have gotten way more interest from my portrait sessions than I thought that I would. And I sincerely thank you for that. I appreciate all that you do and how forgiving you all have been as I work the kinks out of my process. Your feed back has been invaluable - good and bad, I want to hear it all, and I thank you for taking the time to tell me what you honestly think. I am attending a seminar that I am hoping to learn more about this side of the art and will hopefully make for better experices for both you and I.
I’ll be posting more sessions in the near future, I am sort of working on finishing some of the other elements of the site and that has taken priority, so bear with me more stuff is coming soon!
