All the boys I’ve loved before….

I have daughters two very female, very pink and purple, doll playin, lipstick wearing, princess movie watchin girls.

its not what I expected from motherhood. I always thought I would have two boys and a girl. The boys first then the prissy little girl to fill in the party and have the older brother I always wanted. i am not the girl type of mom, i like the mud and trains and race cars, and comics and super heroes and boy stuff. ITS FUN.

Alas it was not to be, so I live vicariously though my boy sessions. These two handsome brothers were such a treat, all boy, we got completely filthy and even got bloody cuts and the like. IT WAS AWESOME.

thinkin about the people I love

Todays adventures in parenting include Bri up to her wrists in butter. i odn’t knwo what that child loves so about grease products but if its greasy she wants to play in it. Hair grease, cooking oil, lotion anything. Oh and she likes to throw whole rolls of toilet paper in the toilet – we went from having 12 rolls to four in 48 hours. I am speechless about that.

Cammy and I visited Monkey Joe’s for the first time. She had a blast! she jumped and jumped and jumped and i didn’t take a camera with me, I have been trying to be more mom centered when I spend time with the girls. Which ironically mean i just need to fork up teh cash for a point and shoot. i am hoping to get that together next month.

Bri is turning into a parrot, she sat today i repeated everything my aunt said today, tone and inflection and everything. Almost makes me forget the toilet paper thing. Her vocabulary is growing leaps and bounds, shes such a different kid than Cammy was, she climbs on tables and eats a cupcake and when you walk up to her she holds it out and goes “Cupcake?” like you want one too? Shes gotten thin and her bowed legs are straightening out shes tall like her sister – wearing a 2T, making faces and kissing us back, she offers her cheek so easy now. shes less standoffish of new people but still not NEARLY as warm to people as Cammy is.

Jerry and i went on a date night we probably shouldn’t have mostly cause we really needed it. We sat had some sushi and talked, alot, about mundane things, important things, sexy things, things not kid related, kid related things, Raquita things, Jerry things, work things, we sat there and nursed that sushi for a long while. when we finished we walked down the streets of Downtown St. Louis to the car and talked some mroe, we talked all the way home , forgot to go get diapers for the next day, and talked more.

It was great.

We both mentioned how we thought about that night all day the next day, and how much we missed that kind of time together, between the business, the jobs and the kids, who has time to date your spouse? The next evening we promised that we’d do more one on one date nights even if it was just a few hours to slip away. I have time to date my spouse, its easily the most important time I spend on any given day.

that and the time I spend fishing whole rolls of toilet paper from the bowl.

motivation

Today, I have had more introspecitve activity today than I have had in, well, ever. One of my strenghts and in teh same breath weaknesses, is that I am open. I am open to ideas, Theories. I have my ideas about things, but if peopel want to talk about why they do things and how they came to a particular I am always excited to talk to people and understand why they think like the do. Those converstations typcially start with “I think this..” and the other responds the same and we talk about why we think. I love the process, I think its important as an artist and a business person to have these converstaions every where I can. These converstations typically have served me well. Sometimes not but typicaly they do. I’ve had them alot this week.

Then  I ran across these videos that lit a fire under me – like I need MORE FIRE right?!? – but actually I think I did. This last week had some bad in it, then it got good so I’m alright with that. Things are moving forward still, the studio/meeting space is till coming to pass, but recently people ahve been commenting on the “art” part of my existance and this morning I saw this and was like YES!!! SOMEBODY has said it!!

then I saw this one and thought YES!!! THAT APPLIES TO ME TOO!!!

and I felt better about my whole life.
new post coming tonight.

STDs, no its not what you think !

Chris and Crystal knew they wanted to incorporate an image from the session to their save the dates when they booked their engagement session, and were excited when i told them we could have something custom made that really was all about them.  Crystal was excited about tying the knot, she used that term a few times so that gave me an idea about their save the dates. All it took was a quick stop at target and a practice run through on knot tying.

And PRESTO!

we also made them magnetic and they went out last week, i was so excited by the idea of them hanging on peoples refrigerators!

I’m so easy to please.

So to all my future brides, do be thinking about your save the dates and thank you cards! We’ll get something custom for you too..

A duck and a bridal show

wtd480

That about sums up my experience with the bridal show I went to this weekend. I met a few photographers and other vendors I am excited to grow with and have a relationship with. I met some WONDERFUL brides and family members who I hope I get a chance to meet with again.  btw I love What the Duck – click the strip to go read more..

I learned alot this weekend at the Stl. Black bridal show. This was my first show in a while I ususally go cause I like to see all the stuff, and lets not forget cake samples, but this time I went as a potential vendor (I’ll be getting a booth next year) and it was interesting to look at the whole thing from a different perspective. I admit bridal shows were one of the things I liked about wedding planning, one of the few perks in that I as engaged twice, and moved my wedding date once is that I got to go to ALOT of bridal shows ( three different years worth!!) .  I did learn alot about customoer interaction and what I want to acomplish with my booth.  I figured out I am on another level. What I want to do with wedding photography and what I want to give my clients is far beyond what most photographers are thinking about. And while thats awesome, its also kinda scary.

When I was a kid I always heard people say that St. Louis is five years behind California and New York, and if thats true we are seven years behind Europe and ten behind Japan. But I really don’t believe that. There are a ton of artists and people who are excited to bring beautiful ideas and concepts to Saint Louis. And that in itself is so exciting for instance I met the most wonderful videographer team called Exousia Video

I know people who have used them and we’ve been contacts via facbook for a little while but we got to meet in person and talk in between brides who approached their booth. THEY ARE AWESOME. Can I think up any more to say about them? Dude, if I could think up a better way to say AWESOMETASTIC I would. They are just so creative and energetic and just the kind of people I want my clients to hire. They care about the work on such a different level. It was so refreshing to meet a vendor who is thinking and trasforming the way brides think about their genre, they totally give me some hope that I can do what I am wanting to do.

The blog is almost done with its update – but its not yet so if you read this thru a reader don’t go clickin thru to the blog yet I’ll tell you when I am done.

I have a session – actually two that I want to post,  no make that three and a dentist apointment so this will be a busy week.

Be peaceful Be Photographed!
