The Frozen North

The Furnace is out at the studio again, It apparently needs an ignition coil, and I have to go get one, less the repair cost a zillion dollars rather than a couple bucks, and right now I would pay A LOT for comfy warmth in my extremities, and lunch I would love to have lunch.
Maybe its the chasing of the dreams this week, but even a freezing office can’t deter me. I came into day prepped for a good day, I knew it was gonna be cold (the furnace broke earlier this week-I’ve been working from home) I’ve had a really productive week, my weddings are all up and edited and delivered, I am working on a great maternity session, and then I am gonna launch into wedding albums and boudoir stuff (I’ve been posting a lot over at itsintimate.com – not sessions, yet – we got a few coming,  but a lot of informational stuff)And the things is, the other day I decided I can’t be afraid. I have been sitting waiting on things to not go the way I want them to go, waiting on people to tell me this is a pipe dream give it up, but the truth is. This is my dream, this is my passion and my skill and my want, this is me laying it all out and it doesn’t count if you lay it out there and are scared when you do it. God can sense scared, the universe don’t reward for half ass efforts. So I am pushing there are no excuses. I’m not a nice person when I am scared, and I like not scared Raquita way better than waiting for things to go wrong. Things go wrong so you can turn them right.

This is me making a right in life.

So in other news, my Kids are great, Cammy is Priceless. Bri just inherited Cammys old Leapster, So we are on the hunt for games for the thing. Cammy’s playing Daddy’s Nintendo DSi, which I don’t think I ever blogged about that party.. so you know how kids don’t want anything til somebody else wants it… yeah we got that issue over the Leapster. Bri is hilarious, She told Spoken that she drew a platypus the other day and then asked me if dinner was salty. I’m like did she seriously as me if this was gonna be salty? Shes also very concerned with the temperature of things “mom, is this warm?” shes been that way since she burned her hand over the summer. I’ve got five weddings to blog, my ca-nieces bday party to blog, and a lot of stuff I wanna talk about a poem I wrote – TONS of stuff.. So keep workin with me internet I am still here.
Also go over to my girl Jodie with Fresh Art and give her some well wishes – Her husband is very ill and she could use all the support and prayers she can get..

and whats a post with out a photo? Emily from My Oct 17th wedding…

Two In a Row

I realize that two posts in two days is a lot for me but hey why not?

Today was sorta light, its 11:52 p.m. and I’ve not spent too much time on the computer today, I am working on a new blog layout – at least I was supposed to but my kids came home and we watched a lot of movies. I got to spend a little time with my husband and take it easy – been a little bit since I took it easy.

Started a new poem, maybe I’ll post it when its finished.

Made some progress on my wedding editing. (Yay!) Its been a easy day.

Since this is after the bridal show I expect a few new people should be clicking around so I thought I’d post a shot from my Oct 11th wedding…

Perhaps I’ll see you tomorrow internets…

St. Louis Bridal Shows are sorta cool….

I got weddings coming out the wazoo for editing, I got portraits and maternity sessions to edit, and I have no shooting this week so – I am all about the editing, and the laundry =0) cause a clean towel would be nice. I know its been too long since I posted and I come bearing gifts in this what will be entirely too short a post. I did my first solo wedding show this weekend, and I think it went well – not so awesome I booked people on the spot but I got to talk to some great people, brides, grooms – more grooms than I expected, and vendors. The whole not booking on the spot – well I have to aspire to something!

Lots of people were like ‘Raquita – OVERKILL with the booth girl’ – but I think I’d rather go over than under any day. Its how I do everything, photography too. I mean I think I’m still drunk of the Kool-Aid of quitting my day job cause I’m still like – Hey! We can do that! Lets TRY THIS! OH! OH! HOW ABOUT DOING THAT! Which I think my husband hopes will wear off before our life savings do. But in all seriousness I’d rather try it and not need it than wish I had tried it. Some of my photography mentors gave me a lot of great advice that I will definitely take into account next time. And I think I have decided that there will be a next time. Which is sorta a relief and a reason to freak out cause we worked our butts off to get this one under our belts.    That being said my super friend April, video vixen extraordinaire (and not in a video model way – although she is visually qualified for that too) – anywho she stopped by and did a quick little video of the booth and us during the day, and I thought I would post it..

We dedicated a little section of our booth to Its Intimate Boudoir photography, and the response I think was really good. I learned a lot about bridal shows, brides, my best friend – who as if I didn’t know WAS SO SUPER AWESOME, and my hunky husband and his best friend were super fannytastic for helping me move that thing, and my good good friends Grant and Meg (happy birthday Meg!) and Dave for building the dog gone thing.  I tell people often I live a blessed life and it is days like Sunday that show me exactly how rich I am in great great people in my life.

feedback is welcome and keep on the look out I am going way back on the posting this week..
