me??? I’m just a woman, who loves a man and a kid, another kid and a dog. I got a family, and a few friends. I’m a poet, a mom, a artist, a writer, trying to become a good chef and a master photographer. basically I’m a Jack of all trades, master at love.

I’m trying to avoid being perceived as the stereotypical black woman, what ever that is now, and trying to give my daughters the tools to become the greatest selves that they can.

I’m into reading, movies, although I haven’t seen an non animated movie in the theater since June 18, 2004 (Cammy’s birthday) and by far that has been the biggest adjustment of parenthood. We get date night and still do alot of the things we did before but who wants to waste a date night sitting in the dark?

Jerry and I are foodies. We like good restaurants, and we have become avid home cooks, I am currently taking a sporadic step back into school to get some kind of degree it was going to be culinary but now I’m faltering again, and thinking maybe photography is the way to go. Decisions, decisions.

I love to paint. But I don’t do it often, I’m hoping to start taking lessons in ’08. I am the type of person who likes to take lessons to learn how to do the thing i like to do as well as possible. I scrapbook, not as much as I should. I’m a dog person, a Christian, and a wish I could stay at home mom. I’m not quite crafty but I’m artsy. I’m dying to learn to knit, or Quilt.  I’m not snobby but I am a bit urban.

I’m a city dweller, and I like my city. We live in the actual city of St.Louis, not in the surrounding suburbs, which is a source of many a lively conversation with one of my best friends from St. Charles county, see character sheet – I’ll probably snark about her little cat too!

The name of this blog used to be “me as soon as I figure me out…” but I think I kinda got a decent handle on it now, so the name changed. To those who don’t know a W.O.B.L is a (w)ise (o)ld (b)lack (l)ady. Shown in most movies as the person with tons of wisdom and great advice but ironically is never more successful than the primary character that they are advising, typically. there have been many many W.O.B.L’s though out the history of the world. Including the Oracle from the Matrix, Gone with the wind, Whoopie Goldberg was a few including Clara’s heart, and Ghost. Men can be W.O.B.L’s too I guess rather though they would be W.O.B.M’s too, per say Bagger Vance, Morgan Freeman plays a WOBL in almost every movie he ever MADE.

But I figure even if you aren’t a wobl in public its a good trait to have on the inside. So this is my journey to W.O.B.Lness. Hope you come back and see how its going for me.

Been blogging for almost three years. I started as a way to find my way back to poetry as I was a performance poet for several years before I had my first daughter. I found poetry and so many other wonderful things in blogging. Look forward to hearing from you.
