I was a tad disapointed in the choices in this list - not that they aren’t wonderful works I just would have liked to have seen more stuff on it. No Toni Morrison? Not that I could have bolded a bunch of her titles.. I’ve been trying to read Beloved since the year it came out, but she is a powerful american writer. Would have liked to have seen The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran on that list, the complete collections of Pablo Neruda. Would have liked to have seen Sonja Sanchez on that list, but thats mostly the poet in me.  I’m clearly not as well read as I would like to be although I would like to thank My english teachers Mrs. Baker-Bradford, Mrs. Edwards, and Mrs. Raglin who could put the hurtin on you with a critical analysis paper. THey are the reason I read most of these books I have in bold at all. Although after teh first book, if I like the author I would read their other works on my own. I was booky like that.

Thinking of my english teachers bring back wonderful memories.  I would hate for any of them to break out a red pen on my blog.

just the idea gives me shudders.

my neck.. my back..

Long weekends are supposed to be relaxing. Lately my weekends have been long and not cause there is an extra day in them.
Cammys Birthday passed this month and I have been so busy I didn’t get to blog about it.
My baby isn’t a baby anymore and shes the popular kid in class to boot. roughly 27 kids showed up to wish her a happy birthday, we still have presents on the table in the dining room she still hasn’t had a chance to play with, which means we should always have something to do. I’m bored should not be something I hear for a least the next twelve to eighteen months.
I look back at my life before Cammy, and see how totally she changed my life, and my outlook. She changed my goals and my drive. I could never imagine becoming who I am with out her and I can hardlybeleive she is four years old. It seems like such a short amount of time, but somedays I feel like she should still be Gabrielles size. She looks at me with the big brown eyes and she may as well be my baby girl.
alas prior to the party I threw my back out..
so I was extremely DRUGGED for the actual party, and alot of my friends and parents of kids who I didn’t quite know were more than willing to help a mom out, becuase it has become apparent to me that the world stops spinning if mom can’t spin it.
So I am working on finding balance between who I have to be - who I want to be and who I am. I have decided that I want to start running so I’m gonna try the couch potato program gonna pull up my trailer this week nad get the jogging wheel so I can take Miss Bri with me I think.
The photography is actually going well, hte blog redesign is - um - not, I got all the images ready to go and I know exactly HOW I want it to look, I just suck at the execution of code and the like.. CSS is not easy people.
You ever talk to someone about soembody else and know they were really talking about you?
Had that happen to me recently and it was a great compliment.
must go - and get ready to edit more sessions.

buttons for june meet up

Jim made a cake!

I am so glad Jerry is my husband…

The party to end all shindigs….

So it should be an annual event.
We’ll call it the Spoken Spring release.
oh my GAWD.
When the people come out to party. They. Come. Out. To. Party.
I could tell you about the bad lullaby at the end. How I got cursed out ’cause her picture was on the cake. There was the random fifty people, forty of which I knew at least twenty of whom I hadn’t seen since I had children, and a few who I hadn’t seen since high school and did not expect to see (St. Louis is a small small city.) and the half a dozen or so strangers to me (one of which stole the colonge from my bathroom.. but hey there is always one right?) Or the kick butt mix put down by not one, not two, but three DJ’s who spun at my house HARD CORE til four thirty in the morning. They didn’t even stop then, they just turned the music down…
yeah.
We could talk about the food.. slow cooked peach chipotle bbq sauced pulled pork, turkey meatballs, chicken apple smokies or the dark chocolate fountain. or all the goodies to dip in it.. pineapple, marshmallow, wafers, strawberries - big ones, etc..
need a drink? not at that party you didn’t.
I’m still wrapping my brain around it.
That chick who kept comin on to my husbands friends.
the chick who got LOUDER as she got DRUNKER. There is always one, isn’t there?
And my very cool neighbors who did not call the cops on our over party throwin selves.
we got some nifty images though, I didn’t mention the red light did I?
I got spoken Kermit G4 adidas as her gift.
My friend was really happy and had a really good, good time. And it was worth all the energy it took to pull it off.

I may comment more at a later time. Its been a full day later and I am still tired.

Poets and stuff

So this last week or so has been filled with poets left and right for me. NACA was a week ago in ST. Louis, which meant a lot of my poetry friends were to be in the area. SO It was nice to meet people I haven’t met but talk to and admire and people who I just hadn’t seen in ages. Queen Sheba from VA came through and spent a few days. Got to see my girls for the first time in like four years. I officially have ‘the biggest knockers she ever saw’. I need to get a ribbon for my dressing mirror to that effect.

BasseyI also got to finally meet and talk to in person Bassey Ikpi. Who so very soundly FCUKING ROCKS. We’ve been eFriends for close to two years. So it was really nice to finally get to sit down across from her and talk to her. I only got to spend a few hours with her - then I took her to the airport for her flight out. Meeting her was one of those days when hours feel like minutes.
shebaQueen Sheba came in from ATL, I am working on learning how to edit the video I took of her reading, maybe I’ll get it up. It was nice to see her again, it had been years. WE got little time to talk but it was still nice to see her..Marc Marcel came through immediately

Relax - its only parenting

*this is a bit of a long post.. So long, in fact, I had to trim it into two and this one is still long.. warning you now..

I remember when I found out I was pregnant with Cammy. Jerry and I wern’t trying for a baby, but we wern’t disapointed when we found out she was coming. We knew that statistically given our track record a baby was gonna happen sooner or later and while later would have given us more time to play, sooner has its perks too.

I was genuinely happy about my pregnancy. I read every parenting book I could get my hands on, I TIVO’d every

sorry wp was like BYTCH PLEASE!!!

I tried to post a few times yesterday and that just DIDN’T work - hence the title of this post. I’ve reposted - enjoy..

so pretend its Feb. 14

I sent for him on a Thursday. After weeks of back and forth, I finally got up the nerve and fill out the form and entered the charge number and hit submit all at the same time.

“On a scale of one to ten,” he’d said, “I’m looking for a Q.”

It ate at me for those two weeks. Was that a typo? He couldn’t possibly have meant that literally.

But I couldn’t let it go. Me, the serial dating bohemian poet, was gonna meet somebody on the internet? No. Nobody meets someone, their somebody, on the internet.

“I’m looking for a Q.”

I put the thought away countless times. But it kept coming back, so I did too. I coughed up the

Is blue the color of sunshine

Ah this week.It has been good on so many levels, despite this blue haze I seem stuck in. I am beginning to think I got a little baby blues going on, it’s the only reason I can think of that I can’t shake this mild funk I’m in.

However life does not stop cause I’m in a funky mood.

Jerry started his new job this week. (Whoo!!Whoo!!) He was seriously like a kid
