As a poet – i am speechless still about the events of Tuesday Nov. 4th 2008.
I watched my husbands face as he watched a man who looks like him – in the most general sense – ascend to the Presidency of the United States of America. I did not cry, I almost lost it when my husband went outside for a moment alone and let a hearty WHOO! HOO! sail into the night.
What I thought might take all night took less than three hours to become plainly apparent.
My great grandmother placed her vote the very first thing that morning.
My grandmother cried after hearing stories of first time voters of all ages.
My daughters fell asleep before I could share the goosebumps with them and it occured to me, if this is truly the way it is now, then this will not be special to my childeren anymore than using a public restroom, anyone I choose, is special to me.
This however is very special to me.
The images in this link most completely capture how I feel visually. and this image captures my heart. Hey , I’m a sap, sue me..
Congradulations America, Congradulations President-Elect Obama, First Lady Michelle and family.
