Look, I don’t know what he is. he sorta looks like this guy only way more like an ox and and gorillas love child. He only turns into this thing for a few hours every night, sometimes after I am asleep, mostly during the waneing hours of the night. Especially now since i am preggers I sleep way way earlier than him. You see my husband plays WoW, or World of Warcraft.

My husband as i became aware this weekend, is way more than the casual gamer he sorta made himself out to be.

You know how they say, you spend the first part of your cortship and marriage on a “date” with the other person, and then they say you relax and your true you comes on out to scratch sweaty balls and spill beer on the couch? yeah well my husbands Al bundy alter ego is a gamer. Straight up geek proud podcast listenin’, twenty sided die rollin, DM’in, comic readin’, imported beer drinkin, Xbox 360 playin, RPG loving, gamer.

Just a little thing I should point out, my husband has the attention span of dirt, unless – he’s gaming.

the funny thing is none of these things were necesarily a secret, he didn’t necessarly hide them from me. He roll plays on Sunday with almost the same core of guys that have been coming to our house to roll play since we had a house to come roll play at. Our mutual respect for comics was something we enjoyed having in common, although we read totally different comics, usually. We both listen to pod casts although again the content is vastly different, i typically listen to the pods from shows I like, okay just greys anatomy the offical and the fan podcast. My husband listens to books on podcasts, and geeks with jobs who review games or some mess like that. We both love a bit of video game to relax, I typically enjoy something where the annoucer says “FINISH HIM!!!” and I can rip a guys spine out, or perhaps some sports or driving game, and while the hubby does dig said electronics he perfers his games a tad more shall we say charater driven.

I say this becuase I miss my husband. The last month or two I really haven’t spent much of any time at all with J. Or Cammy for that matter. we wake up, get dressed go to work, get off work go home eat dinner, and I pass out – if I make it through dinner. Jerry (cue cape and music) has handled everything from bath time, and story time, and play time and everythnig else that usually falls in the mommy realm, in addition to what usually lives in daddyville.  And the thing that I have gotten most from missing him since this whole pregnacy thing has started, is that it makes me pay more attention to him when we are awake. Okay when I, when I am awake – sheesh people!!

I notice that he does too much around the house. I really do fall out as the sun goes down. Last night I stayed up long enough to make a pretty tasty lo mein, feed the kid, and tell my husband I loved him, but then I know he made the tasty dumplings and was up cleaning up, and walking the dog, and doing laundry and all of the other things I should be handling, so its nine thirty or ten o’clock before he gets a chance to unwind. And I know hes lonely cause he’s playing WoW.

and it sucks when your husband has to become an orge for companionship.

I’d also like to stop throwing up, because well barfing sucks pretty royal.

My husband and I had a short stint playing Quake together until he got tired of me being more interested in running around in circles than actually shooting anyone :)

I’m sure he understands just how difficult it can be to gestate that new little one, hoping your energy returns to you soon(and that the throwing up stops too).

It does get easier … then harder again but it gets easier in the middle! hehe!
